That’s right, episode 9 is now ready for download. Some of you may have seen us mentioned in Smart Shanghai in an article about the sudden surge in British Shanghai-based bloggers / podcasters and this week we have a new British guest from north of the English border.
This week’s topics include the British National Party, the Queen, the history of civilisation, WoAi perfects his Scottish accent and we discuss our favourite anagrams of Swiss James and Caster Semenya (Yes, a secret man).

October 27th, 2009 at 5:15 pm
@Jill – Ok. I thought you meant Shopgirl!
October 27th, 2009 at 5:24 pm

October 27th, 2009 at 5:41 pm
mr and mrs bund !
October 27th, 2009 at 8:41 pm
i watched that BNP Q&A. A party that only whites can join (is that even legal?) but after the show there are criticisms if the audiences were hand picked.
October 27th, 2009 at 11:54 pm
Pedantic?!? I’ve been able to endure the barbs and the fake phone call, but that stung! Swiss James you ostentatious bugger, how dare you!
Just one comment about this week’s episode… needs more booze. Halfway through a Go3 episode and there is water on the table? WTF.
October 28th, 2009 at 4:19 am
I’ve been suffering from BNP overload recently in the media so I’m afraid that I’m going to skip this episode in order to avoid a brain haemorrhage (sorry). The wonders of WoAi’s Scottish accent will have to remain unknown to me alas. See you next time!
October 28th, 2009 at 6:50 am
Comedy sawdust!!
Seriously though, it was much better when it was just me and Swiss..
October 28th, 2009 at 10:23 am
Oh there’s only a passing mention of the BNP and anagrams- other than that it’s hardcore gossip about HM The Queen and Bamber Gascoigne

@Hopfrog – I don’t think you’re pedantic, I think you’re perfect. I couldn’t believe my ears when I asked what everyone wanted to drive and they all said “water”.
@David – Yes, as James says, we don’t delve much in to the BNP thing. Give it a listen!
@D – I don’t think they were hand picked. I think there may have been some who deep support the BNP but would be afraid to reveal themselves on public television, just like in the US where members of the Klu Klux Klan where hoods to disguise themselves.

I drink because I want to, not because I have to WoAi. Why back in the 80s, I once went an entire day without touching a drop.
October 28th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
@WoAi, Careful, or people are gonna think that phone call wasn’t a gag. I suppose if I possessed Swiss’s delicate sensibilities that comment would have balled me up in a pool of tears, but thank you for the support. I think if a tally were being run, my positive comments regarding the Go3 far outweigh the negative, it just seems some members of the troupe handle honest feedback better than others and I’ve probably worded some of the negative feedback a bit too harshly.
@Dingle, “it was much better when it was just me and Swiss..”. You can’t be serious man! I have a feeling that episode 7 will eventually be referred to as ‘that of which we do not speak’.
October 28th, 2009 at 2:00 pm
@Hopfrog – Your beautifully written words warm me up like a slice of warm chocolate cake. I read all your comments at least 5 times and then another 5 times just before bed time. You’re wrong about episode 7 though. We ALREADY do not speak of it!
October 28th, 2009 at 4:42 pm
Oh get a room
October 28th, 2009 at 5:55 pm
@Swiss – Getting a room is completely unnecessary when I have a lovely centrally located apartment that Hopfrog is welcome to visit at any time.

Very generous offer WoAi, thank you sir.
Here in the states we have never been exposed to this Mr. Gascoigne so I did a bit of research and tracked down a few video clips. What an amazing gentleman. I can only assume he is considered a national treasure in his homeland and even the lumberjack song seems a bit clearer now.

@Hopfrog: are you a teacher?
October 29th, 2009 at 12:36 pm
Your podcast sounded good with Faithless in the background…he’s a brit too! How brilliant!
October 29th, 2009 at 4:40 pm
@jeffwho, Nope, just a Pedant. Actually I am considering leaving my industry and teaching in China for a year or two. Searching for info on the expat experience is how I stumbled onto WoAi’s excellent blog and found myself going through the looking glass.
October 29th, 2009 at 7:48 pm
some slick editing there from Mr Swiss.
hats off to you Sir.
October 29th, 2009 at 8:51 pm
Dear Gang of 3 (plus guest),
Just tuned in as I normally do every week, and was delighted to hear my name mentioned several times throughout the show.
I hope to be appearing on this year’s celebrity Big Brother, and, as I know you have a MASSIVE number of listeners, your plug will be very helpful in securing my place in the house and hopefully will lead to a kitsch revival of my broadcasting career.
You will each be compensated with a cheque for 27 pence from my publicist. This is being mailed (second class) first thing on Monday morning, after I collect my Giro.
Thanks and Regards,
Bamber Gascoigne x

I’m about 13 mins in and waiting for the BNP bit. Is anyone going to do a Nick Griffin impression?
Quote of the show so far: Dingle “Speaking of Jesus, I was shopping the other day …”
October 30th, 2009 at 11:57 am
you’re not the queen ! – lol
October 30th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
Andy- the BNP bit is where WoAi gets a bit tipsy on the pink champagne and goes on a big rant about how he thinks gypsies are ruining this once proud country, and why can’t all the foreigners just go home anyway?
We pointed out that
a) he was in China not Britain and
b) he might be on dodgy ground with the BNP anyway
Anyway by then he was in a proper froth and we had to put a blanket over his head to continue with the podcast.
Lizzie Windsor- I’m a big fan of your work.
October 30th, 2009 at 2:21 pm
@Andy – Here’s my Nick Griffin impression : All you bloody lao wai coming over here teaching English badly (but Hopfrog is going to be the exception) and sleeping with our women. Why don’t you all go home. Keep China YELLOW!
@James – No you’re wrong, the BNP are okay with yellow skins like me, it’s mainly the blacks and the arabs they want out. And the eastern Europeans. Oh and the Jews. And the Irish.
@HRH – Yes ma’am, I’ve lined up a nice Caturday pic for tomorrow dediacted to you.
@Bamber – Loved you in that episode of Young Ones.
October 30th, 2009 at 7:59 pm
Andy – that was Swiss James
nul point…
