Well I posted last February about Enjoy’s special offer of 50% off at Lawry’s and they’ve repeated the offer all January for 2010. That’s right, show up with your Enjoy card and get 50% off, that’s half, when you order either the 10oz Lawry’s cut or the 20oz Diamond Jim Brady cut which fills the entire plate so the sides have to go on another plate!
The Lawry’s cut is 10oz and normally costs 460 RMB while the Diamond Jim Brady cut is twice the weight for just 100 rmb more, so the smart option is to get that and share. I did expect a bad reaction from the waitress when I told her that’s what we wanted to do, but to my surprise she was more than happy to accommodate and even asked if I needed an extra side salad and mash. If you need help with the maths, that works out at 140 rmb per person, but of course that doesn’t include wine, extra sides and dessert. Still a great bargain, so if you have an Enjoy card and love prime rib, get down to Lawry’s before the offer ends on Sunday!

Hi there! I’m not quite sure how I stumbled upon your blog but I’m glad I did! I have enjoyed reading several posts from your blog and just decided to send some hellos your way from California. Looking forward to your future posts!

Thanks for stopping by Lien, have you been to Lawry’s in California?
Keep the comments coming so I know some people are reading this!

No, I haven’t actually. Although I have to mention that I’m not very fond of prime rib, surprisingly. Have you tried Lawry’s here in California? Does work ever take you through California or any other parts of the US?

@Lien – Haven’t tried Lawry’s in the US but wouldn’t mind if I ever pass through. Work doesn’t bring me that far out sadly but I will definitely be visiting at some stage. Does everyone wear big hats and ride horses or is that just Texas?
January 27th, 2010 at 4:59 pm
Sorry to disappoint but that may very well be just Texas. We do wear big sunglasses and sandals more than 95% of the time. Lucky us! I’m not even sure if Texans ride around in horses but there’s a possibility at least in the more remote areas.

While Lawry’s is a Southern California restaurant and is quite good for prime rib, my favorite place for prime rib in California is House of Prime Rib! in San Francisco

I been to both Lawry’s in Bev hills and LV…while the service is great and the food is good I find that there are many other places that meet or excel in prime rib in LA, but that is probably due to me living in orange county vs la county. Other places which I think have good prime rib are Houston’s, Morton’s, Woodranch and my favorite Summit House.

Mmmm I quite like Houstons. Also Baton Rouge up in Canada.
Been to Texas a couple of times and had always had a good time. Didnt see any cowboys but it made me laugh when I heard the groom and his groomsmen popped home to grab their guns before heading to the shooting range as part of the stag night fun and frolics. We don’t get much of that here in UK.

@Rich – when I moved to Houston (the city, not the restaurant) I really thought I’d see a lot more big belt buckles, cowboy hats and gun racks. Those only come out during rodeo time. But I also learned that rodeo time is the best time of all in Houston. Four words: Houston Rodeo Barbeque Cookoff. Free bbq, free drinks. It’s pretty awesome.

Heard a lot about Mortons, might have to take a trip across the pacific to check out some of these places. Lawry’s tonight by the way, yes, second time in a week, but the offer expires tomorrow.

no need to take a trip across the pacific. There’s a morton’s in Hong Kong (and one in Macau too).
The one that USED to be in Central used to have a happy hour where they handed out mini steak sandwiches for free. We used to go, nurse one drink, and eat about 5-6 mini steak sandwiches. It may be why there’s no longer one in Central.
