Is it me or are the weeks just flying by? Can it be Friday again already? Well then it’s time for WoAi’s weekly fashion segment, showcasing the latest trends from China’s most fashionable city.

Regular readers will remember my recent Fashion Friday post two weeks ago, where I stressed the importance of getting rid of those boring dull greys and blacks and “experimenting with pinks and even yellows” (my exact words). Well this young lady is obviously an avid follower of my blog, because she’s really taken my advice to heart with this truly magnificent ensemble.
If I may, I’d like to break it down for the readers starting with these fabulous silver shorts. I have almost an identical pair myself, which are perfect for working out at the gym.

Then there’s the eye catching yellow leggings that really accentuate her perfectly formed legs:

And she’s combined these perfectly with the latest Shanghai sensation, pink Crocs:

I think lime green might have worked equally well, but who am I to make suggestions for improving what is already a near perfect outfit.
You may remember back in June I wrote a post on the importance of accessories and again, she’s clearly read this and taken it on board with a lovely handbag in the shape of a donkey lion to complete the look.

It just warmed my heart when I saw this young lady walking along Nanjing Road because there couldn’t be a better endorsement of my fashion segment. I hope more of you will follow her fine example and bring some colour to your wardrobe.
And with that, all hat’s left is to wish you a colourful weekend.

Donkey?
I fear to ask where you learned biology.
July 25th, 2008 at 7:46 am
T, strictly speaking I think the lion, or the “sub-saharan donkey” is actually a member of the donkey genus.

Great shot! Although silver and yellow seems an improbable combination, the handbag makes up for it!

C’mon bruv, you’re not gonna make us beg for the studio pics again are you?
And she’s actually wearing socks with that emsemble!
July 25th, 2008 at 9:39 am
I am disappointed you didn’t mention the amazing umbrella! As a child I had a Dennis the Menace lamp shade – her umbrella reminds me of that – this girl is connecting with me on so many levels!
July 25th, 2008 at 9:42 am
heh. I wonder how far she had to chase that clown in order to steal its clothing?
July 25th, 2008 at 10:38 am
the bag is hilarious haha
jesus, being serious. how can someone go out like that, that’s not normal, not even in CHINA!!!
July 25th, 2008 at 11:41 am
significant show-off outfit ! I agree it’s absolutely priceless but who cares . She looks really enjoyed herself . This is the whole point .
Peter , you are really surprised me abt ” Donkey ” sth. ! ? haha

Wow I didn’t expect such a big response. I had nothing ready for fashion friday except this one photo and even “cheated” by making it into 5 photos!
Dingle – Wood? You have a donkey fetish do you?
T – It seems obvious to me now but at the time, donkey was what it looked like. Hey, I’m a fashion expert not a zoologist!
Wance – Are you saying I shouldn’t wear my silver shorts with my yellow singlet at the gym? Perhaps that’s why Ginger, Angel and Eva haven’t been responding to my flirtatious advances.
Rich – Socks and Crocs, nice!
Wiseman – My mistake, that is a very cool umbrella but there were just too many other things to discuss.
GSWafford – I don’t know but if I were a clown I wouldn’t mess with her.
Penny – Yes, she’s proud and happy with her look and that’s what counts.
Update : The donkey / lion issue has been addressed. In my defense, I have been on safari in Africa and seen lions and they don’t look anything like that handbag!

T – WoAi has a five-year mission: to explore strange new fashions, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

hey! where’s my comment?! (i posted one a loooooong time ago!)
anyhow:
how can someone follow so many of the right fashion tips and yet get it so wrong?
July 25th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
Angie – I checked. No comment from you! In answer to your question, perhaps it’s because she followed ALL the tips at the same time!
July 25th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
Guys, u missed her hairstyle!
Peter, is that the latest fashion in modern Shanghai? It could be a piece of constructive advice for all the hairdressers here in Kunming!
Who doesn’t wanna look perfectly trendy on a Friday night, huh?
July 25th, 2008 at 11:59 pm
Joyce yes, this is the very latest so print a copy of this post and hurry down to your local hair salon! Send me the before and afters.
July 26th, 2008 at 12:08 am
OMFG. That just made my week.
July 26th, 2008 at 1:53 am
Thanks Em, I enjoyed your fashion roundup at the aquarium equally!
July 26th, 2008 at 9:03 am
woai, you’ve obviously not been on safari, if you had you would be saying “yeah, we saw lion” (not lions) in that annoying way that people who went on safaris speak.
July 26th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
Are you sure she’s a young lady?
July 26th, 2008 at 2:49 pm
Hmm, this photo reminds me of a commercial i have seen, but i cant remember which one at the moment. Hopefully, when i remember, i can tell you.
July 27th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
Camel Toe! Wow, me so horny!
July 28th, 2008 at 10:15 am
Maybe it’s just Beijing, but I’d say this kind of ensemble is too commonplace as to not warrant notice… almost. I’m a big fan of whimsical bags, and this is a good one. I wonder if her boyfriend carries it for her when they’re together. Personally I would have gone for the lime green Crocs.
July 28th, 2008 at 10:23 am
Uncle – Behave!
RocketShip – You’re a man of taste. I don’t think she had a boyfriend, so now might be a good time to give it a shot!
July 28th, 2008 at 12:12 pm
RocketShip – As a fellow Beijinger, I agree: I couldn’t see what all the fuss was about when I saw this photo. It seems that the fashions that are almost universal up here are slowly catching on amongst one or two fashionistas in the cities away from the capital.
July 29th, 2008 at 8:46 am
I feel like putting myself into a coma with the strict instruction to be only awoken when Crocs wearers are being openly ridiculed in the streets.
July 29th, 2008 at 10:00 am
Chas – Ah yes, I’d almost forgotten that in Beijing this would be pretty normal.
James – Ridiculed? That’s way too mild. Anyone over the age of 10 wearing Crocs should be made to watch David Hasselhoff concert videos for a minimum of 24 hours without a break.
August 5th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
help! terrorfied.
August 6th, 2008 at 3:44 am
D – You don’t find her sexy?
August 6th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
woai, is it what you call sexy? @_@
September 12th, 2008 at 12:13 am
Omg, you can’t call this fashion, oh, poor girl…
September 12th, 2008 at 1:28 am
Wenwen – I can’t decide if this is SPAM or not. Why do you link to a hotel website?
