While in China today we mark a rather sombre anniversary of which we must not speak, back in Britain, the whole country is celebrating a rather more happy occasion. Can you believe it’s 60 years since her majesty became queen. How time flies – I remember coronation day back in 1953 like it was just yesterday! All over the country (and indeed, all over the world), people are celebrating with jubilee parties. I kind of wish I was able to be there too rather than being stuck her in Shanghai, but it’s only a few weeks now till the London Olympics and I will be there for that, so I shouldn’t be too depressed.
My nephew Tate seems to be enjoying himself after a surprise visit by Prince William and Kate. I say surprise, but now my father is an MBE I suppose we’re like one of the family!
Congratulations your majesty. Here’s to another 60 years!

Love the big, happy overseas Chinese family photo.
Jealous you’re going to the Olympics. Have fun!
@Joyce – Thanks. And yes it’s one of the things I love about England, how the immigrants fully embrace the British culture without necessarily giving up their own culture.
how long before – Sir Wo Ai ? – lol
@Anthony – You mean for my selfless devotion to my blog readers? I would think it can’t be long now!
How old were you in 1953? You don’t look a day over 40. Love the family photo, very patriotic. Of course, I am sure it is like that at your parents house every Sunday since the New Years Honours List
The pic of Tate, sounded like a new reality tv show Will & Kate plus Tate!
@Kim C – Thanks, yes, Will and Kate plus Tate does have a certain ring to it, a bit like Will and Grace. I’m 64 so I was 5 in 1953 :-p
lol@Woai- now we’re waiting for you to sell
“Wo Ai’s anti-aging vodka’ on this website – lol
