I’m a British born Chinese (commonly referred to as a “BBC”) living and working in China for over 11 years. I’m currently living in Shanghai with my gorgeous cat, Tommy. We’ve been together for 5 years, ever since I adopted him as a young kitten and almost every Saturday, I publish a new photo of Tommy under the title “Caturday“.

What I’m trying to do here is share with you my experiences of living and working in China, both good and bad, irritating and amusing. My feeling is it will be of most interest to other expatriates living in China who can relate to my experiences. I also try to share new places I’ve discovered so that others may enjoy them (and also so that they don’t go out of business prematurely).

As with most blogs, this one cannot survive on my posts alone, so I do hope that readers will make comments if they have something to say in response to my posts to keep me motivated to continue and to keep the blog alive.

I can be contacted on the contact page if you need to contact me privately, you know, like if you want to invite me for dinner or congratulate me on having an amazing blog!

    Hi there!

    I was perusing your site and noticed that you have a link to us on your site — thanks for that – and this is just a quick note to let you know that we’ve changed our URL – from the original http://www.thatsbj.com to the new http://www.thebeijinger.com.

    Pop by and you’ll notice the content remains the same, as always, including:

    – Beijing’s most active free classifieds;
    – An oft-used (and occasionally abused!) bbs
    – Our extensive Beijing directory and events listings
    – The online archive of articles from that’s Beijing magazine
    – A large collection of Beijing-related links
    – An online gallery of Beijing party and event photos
    – And our new web-only content posted daily in our tbjblog

    Thanks again for linking to us and please send us a message any time if you have any questions!
